about you
How would you define yourself? Write down whatever comes to mind first. It could be something like: poet, comic book artist, father of three, therapist with an interest in literature … you can go further than that.
Occupation
Typically, columnists start with the author’s occupation in „regular“ life, or the field they are studying. Not every freelance journalist is just a journalist or an editor. It’s not necessary, but it’s useful.
practice
- How long, what and why do you write, broadcast, film?
- What brought you to writing?
- What inspires you?
- Who is your role model?
- Which genres are close to you?
This is an important part where you can highlight what is unique about you and your work. Avoid making overly general statements and clichés.
Publishing experience
You can list, for example, magazine articles, reports, podcasts, other work, a blog. You haven’t written a book yet, but have you participated in one, for example as an editor? You can brag about that too.
Literary achievements
This includes nominations and especially placings in competitions, awards, praise from famous personalities, and the like.
